Regular Expressions in JavaScript and JQuery

What commands in Javascript are used to process Regular Expressions? Please list the commands and describe their functionality.

String.search(): when a string object has the search method with a regular expression as a parameter, the string is searched for that pattern. If that expression shows up in the string, the position of the beginning of the match will be returned. If no match is found a -1 will be returned.

String.replace(): when a string object has the replace method with a regular expression and a current value, the current value in the string will be replaced with the new expression. If the expression does not have the global modifier, it will only replace the first instance of the current value. If the current value is not found in the string, nothing will be replaced.

String.match(): when a string object has the match method with a regular expression as a parameter, the string is searched for a match to that pattern. If that expression shows up in the string, and the global modifier is not added to the expression, it will return the first instance of that matched pattern. If there is a global modifier, all instances of the matched pattern will be returned. If the string does not contain any matches with the regular expression, a null will be returned.

RegExp.test(): when a regular expression object has the test method with a string as a paremter, the string is tested for a match to the regular expression pattern. If one match, or more, is found, True will be returned. If a match is not found, False will be returned.

RegExp.exec(): when a regular expression object has the exec method with a string as a parameter, the string is searched for a match to the regular expression pattern. If any matches are found, the expression is returned. If no matches are found null will be returned.

What commands in JQuery are used to process Regular Expressions? Please list the commans and describe their functionality.

JQuery does not use any different commands than JavaScript does when processing regular expressions.

What do they mean when they use the term 'pattern' with Regular Expressions?

A regular expression pattern is a combination of symbols that look for certain things in a string, such as the number 375 or the word Apple or the symbols #$.
